OLD VINE RESERVE CHENIN BLANC 2021 WO Stellenbosch
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer KEN FORRESTER
A REPEAT of the recommended 2021 (***) that was last released on June 18, 2022, it was just reassessed from a new bottle purchased at the LCBO. Bright pale straw colour. Intense, fairly spicy, attractive, ripe, lemon-melon-apple meringue nose with some minerally, faintly toasty notes. Dry, medium bodied, nicely structured, smooth, spicy, intense, fairly complex, ripe, lemon-melon-yellow-plum flavours with a lingering, fairly crisp, faintly honeyed, mineral-tinged, gentle toasty-citrus finish. This tasty, bargain-priced, crowd-pleaser was barrel and tank fermented (about 50-50) and left on the lees for 19 months French oak (20% new). It has 13.5% alcohol, 4.2 g/L residual sugar and 5.9 g/L total acidity with a NEW lot number L22197M3 on the back label (037 22 on the lower part of the glass bottle) with a screwcap closure.
