CÔTES DU ROUSSILLON-VILLAGES 2015 AC |

This 2015 has a very deep intense purple colour. Lovely, intense, fairly complex, faintly smoky, ripe, plum-raspberry nose with some cedar-sandalwood notes along with a hint of red licorice. Dry medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, dense, intense, ripe, plum-black-cherry-raspberry fruit flavours with a lingering, bright, complex, gently earthy, woodsy finish. DELICIOUS - try with a rack of lamb. This blend of Grenache from Maury, Syrah from Caramany plus Mourvèdre and Carignan is aged for over 24 months in large oak casks (35%), demi muid (one and two year old wood - 35%) and tank (30%). It has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number H2150-L2017/11/15 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Sadly, the 5-year-old ancient tasting note quoted by the LCBO with only 90-points does not do justice to this wine. Lay away a case in a cool cellar for a decade and you will thank me. |
