GRAN RESERVA 2015 DOCa Rioja
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BARÓN DE LEY
Very deep intense purple colour. Intense, complex, cedary, sightly spicy, very attractive, ripe, plum-black-cherry-cassis nose with lots of mineral-tinged, ceday-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full to full bodied, well structured, harmonious, slightly spicy, intense, warm, ripe, plum-cassis flavours with a lingering, high acid, complex, gently cedary finish. Spent 24 months in American and French oak and has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with number L257202 on the lower part of the glass bottle. A terrific Gran Reserva. CSPC 642496

TASTING NOTE: Saturated ruby. Powerful, oak-tinged cherry and dark berry aromas pick up floral, pipe tobacco and spice nuances with air. Broad and velvety on the palate, offering bitter cherry, mulberry, candied rose and mocha flavors and a touch of licorice. The floral note carries through a very long, spicy finish that features steadily building tannins and a sweetening hint of cola. Drinking window: 2023-2032.
