VINEDRESSERS CABERNET SAUVIGNON/PETIT VERDOT 2016 Vegan, sustainable, VQA South Islands, Lake Erie North Shore |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
PELEE ISLAND |
This blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Petit Verdot has a fairly deep intense purple-red colour. Attractive, bright, ripe, plummy-crancherry nose with some subtle, gently complex, toasty notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, quite nicely structured, ripe, plum, black cherry and cassis flavours with a lingering, slightly spicy, toasty, harmonious finish. This seven-year-old South Islands Lake Erie North Shore blend with 12 months aging in French oak is now at its peak - versatile, well-priced and ready-to-drink. It has 13% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with the code Sep.1720 on the back label which tells us that it was bottled in September 2020 making it better and fresher than the previous batch bottled in August 2018 reviewed by David Lawrason in the Vintages Catalogue. |

TASTING NOTE: This medium-full bodied red is anchored on cab sauvignon which provided impressive aromatic lift - blackcurrant, peppery spice, cedar and fresh herbs. It is medium-full bodied, fairly soft and well balanced, with dusty tannin. A hint of VA in there, the length is very good to excellent. Score - 89 (David Lawrason, winealign.com, undated) |
