LA MANNELLA ROSSO DI MONTALCINO 2019 DOCG
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CORTONESI
This is a fraction of the price of La Mannella’s Brunello because it’s made from their youngest Sangiovese vines. Medium deep red colour with a faint hint of amber on the edges. The attractive nose is slightly spicy and bright with sandalwood-tinged, warm ripe plum fruit. Dry, medium bodied and quite well structured, the bright, slightly spicy, sandalwood-tinged, ripe plum-red-cherry flavours persist on the lingering, crisp, harmonious finish with some faint still-tannic notes. Versatile and quite ready-to-drink, it has 14 .2% alcohol and only 1.2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L.05/21RM on the back label. This wine comes from vines planted in 2011 and is aged for one year in 30 hl Slavonian oak botte. Annual production is about 13,000 bottles. The recommended heftier 2018 (***) with 91-points was released on August 21, 2021 at $29.95. CSPC 372524

TASTING NOTE: The Cortonesi 2019 Rosso di Montalcino La Mannella is vibrant and fresh, with plenty of tart cherry, red berry and cranberry to keep the palate refreshed. The wine is clean and streamlined but not thin or short by any means. That special 2019 vintage richness and concentration is played forward to good effect in this well-priced bottle.
