TASTING NOTE: This is one of the standout wines from this latest set of releases from Heirloom. A textbook Barossa Shiraz - what is not to love? Given the serious bling, some of it on the bottle, it seems I am not alone in my adoration of this wine. A vibrant purple, the nose gives the initial impression that this might be a bit of a brute, but that is most certainly not the case. Plums, mulberries, chocolate, black fruits, warm earth and more. There are pleasing notes of oak, but well integrated and melting into the fruit - all finely balanced. A lovely creamy texture here and serious length; nice balance throughout. This is an excellent Barossa Shiraz to drink now or any time over the next decade and easily competes with many wines twice the price. Drink: 2021-2031. Score - 94 (Ken Gargett, winepilot.com, Nov. 2021) |
