CIRĂ’ ROSSO CLASSICO 2021 DOC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TENUTA IUZZOLINI |
Here is a pleasant Calabrian red made from the local Gaglioppo grape which is basically an ancient Sangiovese cross. It has medium-deep violet red colour and a slightly spicy, ripe, plummy nose with some faint hints of sandalwood. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, slightly spicy, sandalwood-tinged, bright, plum flavours with seemingly unoaked, mineral-tinged finish. It is ready-to-drink and has 13% alcohol and about 2 g/L residual sugar with number L19 on the back label. Goes well with tomato-based recipes. |

TASTING NOTE: This wine is made from the Gaglioppo grape variety, which is believed to be an offspring of Sangiovese and is known for its intensity and firm tannin structure. Expect notions of raspberry, redcurrant and smoky herbs and pour with cured meats and caciocavallo. [Luca Maroni tasting note not available.] Score - 92 (lucamaroni.com, Sept. 5, 2022) |
