PINOT NOIR 2019 Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SOKOL BLOSSER
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Medium deep red colour. Attractive albeit quite distinctive, the rather spicy Pinot Noir ih\as ripe, complex, plum-cherry-cassis nose with some cedary, earthy-smoky notes. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, very intense, ripe, plum-black-cherry-raspberry flavours with a complex, lingering, crisp, rather smoky, cedary, mineral-tinge, pomegranate-tinged finish. Hand harvested at a number of sites at various levels of ripeness and fermented in a mix of steel and oak tanks. Aged in French oak barrels, 24% new, for 16 months, it has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number 20287 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Should be terrific with a rack of lamb. The 2016 (***) was released on September 19, 2020 at $39.95. CSPC 748434
