DIRECTOR'S CUT CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2019 Sonoma County
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA
I have to admit that I have become acclimatized and much more accepting to this idiosyncratic style of Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon which has nothing to do with Bordeaux. Very deep intense purple colour, it has a rich, somewhat spicy, intense, ripe, plummy-cherry-cassis nose with lots of cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, spicy, intense, juicy, ripe, plummy, black cherry flavours with a lingering, cassis-tinged, surprisingly cedary (Rioja-Reserva-inspired?) finish. This new blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petite Sirah and 2% Syrah has 13.9% alcohol and a decent 6.2 g/L total acidity with lot number 29421 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Aged for 15 months in French oak with 40% new barrels. Try this crowd-pleaser in a large Riedel 001 glass with a rack of lamb or steak. CSPC 61002
