Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Château d'Aquéria |
A just-tasted REPEAT of the recommended 2021 (***) released on May 21. 2022 . This very tasty classic French rose has a bright pale violet-reddish colour. Intense, spicy, ripe, red-apple-plum nose with some floral, mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, nicely structured, tangy, gently spicy, ripe apple-plum-raspberry flavours with a lingering, bright, fresh, crisp, harmonious finish. Versatile - would work well with salmon and/or roast chicken. The entire Southern Rhone commune of Tavel is solely dedicated 100% to Rosé - no reds or whites. This blend (the same as the 2020) of 45% Grenache, 20% Clairette, 15% Cinsault, 8% Mourvèdre, 6% Syrah, 4% Bourboulenc & 2% Picpoul has 14.3% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with a newlot number LT2005 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: Opulent and juicy, this full-bodied Tavel highlights the fleshy red plum and cherry flavors of Grenache against the peppery, herbal spice of Syrah and a flash of citrusy Clairette. Deep, dusky pink in color, it's a concentrated, thirst-quenching rosé that will drink well into the autumn and winter months. Score - 93 (Anna Lee C. Iijima, Wine Enthusiast, Aug. 1, 2022) |
