Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BARÓN DE LEY
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Attractive, complex, gently cedary, ripe, plum-black-cherry-cassis nose with lots of very attractive, toasty notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, very slightly spicy, bright, intense, ripe, complex, plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, sandalwood-tinged finish. This Tempranillo-based single vineyard blend was aged for 18 months in new French-oak barrels and then for a further 6 months in 10,000-litre French-oak foudres, it has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with an illegible lot number on the lower part of the glass bottle. TASTING NOTE: Inky violet. Highly perfumed aromas of cherry, black currant, candied rose and coconut pick up smoke and spice notes with air. Appealingly sweet and fleshy on the palate, offering cherry preserve, cola, mocha and candied licorice flavors that slowly deepen through the back half. Shows strong, spicy thrust on the long, gently tannic finish, which strongly repeats the cherry and mocha notes. Drinking window: 2025-2036.
