ROSAL ALBARIÑO BLEND 2020 Vegan, DO Rias Baixas |

ALTOS DE TORONA |
Assessed from a bottle just purchased at a Flagship store. This stellar, well-priced, Altos De Torona's Albariño is one of the best that I have tasted. Bright very light straw colour, it has a very attractive, gently spicy, fairly complex, ripe, lemon-apple-melon purée nose with lots of mineral notes. Very dry, medium bodied, well structured, fairly complex, bright, harmonious, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, crisp, mouth-filling, faintly toasty (from extended 4 months lees aging), minerally finish. Great mouthfeel and perfection with seafood. I previously assessed it at a private tasting on August 19 where it had a different lot and LCBO item number with a much higher $32.95 price tag. This excellent blend of 85% Albariño, 10% Caíño, 5% Loureira from the DO Rias Baixas has 12.5% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and lot number L0112210320A on the back label. TASTING NOTE: Scented as with Bourbon vanilla. Crisp, weighty and long, with green apple, citrus and blanched nuts. Fantastic: serious wine for the money, with lively acidity and a long, floral finish. [Drink till 2025.] Score - 95 (decanter.com, Sept. 1, 2021) |
