TESSELLAE OLD VINES GSM 2019 AP Côtes du Roussillon |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TESSELLAE |
This 2019 is a new blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre. It has a deep intense purple colour and an attractive, juicy, ripe, plum-cherry puree nose with some faintly smoky, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied and well structured, it is gently spicy, bright, juicy, ripe black-cherry-plum-cassis flavours with a lingering, tangy, gently mineral-tinged, harmonious finish. Owner Jean-Marc Lafage ages this red in concrete in order to highlight the natural fruit flavours. It has 14.5% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L21326C on the lower part of the glass bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: A tank-aged blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre, the medium to full-bodied 2019 Tessellae Old Vines is dominated by bright, mouthwatering fruit: from raspberries to blueberries, with touches of blackberries swirled in, and just enough black olives and soft tannins on the finish to leave behind a dry, savory impression. Drink it over the next several years. Drink date: 2021-2025. Score - 89 (Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com, Sept. 23, 2021) |
