RISERVA DUCALE ORO GRAN SELEZIONE CHIANTI CLASSICO 2017 DOCG
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer RUFFINO
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. This Ruffino icon offers reliable drinkability and pleasure. Deep ruby-purple colour, the nose is still rather youthful, fairly complex with slightly spicy, ripe, plummy-red-cherry fruit and gently savoury, cedar-sandalwood, mineral-tinged notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, gently spicy, bright, intense, ripe, youthful, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, sandalwood-tinged finish. This new 2017 blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10%, Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot was aged for three years in oak, stainless steel and concrete vats. It has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with a NEW lot number L21252 on the lower part of the glass bottle. This 2017 is preferred to the 2016 (***) that was released on October 2, 2021 at $49.95. It needs time to mature and come together - give it another 2-6 years. CSPC 353201

TASTING NOTE: The 2017 vintage in Chianti was hot, with drought conditions that gave rise to ripe, robust wines. The higher elevations of the Chianti Classico area are responsible for the characteristic freshness of its wines, allowing the 2017s to possess the intensity of the vintage while retaining their distinctive balance. This one shows lifted violets, dark fruit, clove and spice. Pair with grilled lamb. Price $ 49.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
Tasting Date vintages release - March 19, 2022
