| Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Spain has some great, well-priced, ready-to-enjoy reds that offer great satisfaction. This much-improved Monastrell from Jumilla is one of them. It’s the sixth to date and the best yet. Very deep red colour, it is slightly spicy, very bright and gently juicy with a ripe, plum-black-cherry purée nose. Dry, medium bodied, slightly spicy, harmonious, gently juicy, ripe plum-crancherry flavours with a lively, crisp finish. Ready-to-drink, this crowd-pleaser has 14.5% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L-0113J2 on the back label. The recommended 2018 (**/**+) was released on December 12, 2020 at $13.95. |
