BARON LOUIS LIRAC 2015 AP
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHÂTEAU DE MONTFAUCON
A REPEAT of the 2015 that was released on January 11, 2020 at $29.95. Tasted from a fresh bottle just-purchased at the LCBO. Wow, what a difference two additional years of aging make. It has jumped from 88.5-points to 90.5-points. Make sure that you get this new batch with a new lot number L18/150 on the back label (vs L17/320). Deep intense purple-garnet colour. Attractive, gently complex, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis purée nose with some hints sandalwood. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, slightly spicy, bright, ripe plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, well-balanced, harmonious finish. Quite ready to drink, this blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 15% Syrah, 5% Carignan and 5% Mourvedre has 14.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with new lot number L17/320 on the back label.

TASTING NOTE: The rich, tannic 2015 Lirac Baron Louis spent a year in barrel, a year in tank and a year in bottle prior to release. It offers up scents of leather, cedar and vanilla, but it balances out the oak with dark fruit notes of cola, plum and spice. It's full-bodied and velvety on the palate, while hints of licorice emerge on the lengthy finish. This wine has clearly emerged as one of the top Liracs. Drink date: 2019-2025. Score - 93 (Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com, Nov. 30, 2018) Price $ 32.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
