CHÂTEAU MAUCAMPS 2008 Sustainable, AC Haut-Médoc
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer
Not quite NEW in Vintages - the recommended 2010 (***) was released on June 24, 2017 at $34.95 with a different # 486746. Maturing deep intense garnet red with ambering edges. Intense, complex and earthy with maturing, somewhat rusty, faintly spicy, baked plum-cherry fruit with some licorice-tinged, sandalwood notes and a hint of iodine. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, fairly dense, intense, slightly spicy, attractive, warm, mature, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, fairly high acid, walnut-tinged, very faintly herbal, minerally finish. This well-aged blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30%, Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot would be perfect with a slab of just-out-of-the-oven roast beef, gravy and Yorkshire pudding. Has 14% alcohol and no residual sugar evident with lot number L08.196/10 on the lower part of the glass bottle. This tasty traditional style of Haut Medoc that will definitely have its fans. You may well want to try in in a variety of wine glasses to discover which one suits your palate. CSPC 22950

LCBO Text Status Recommended by Vintage Assessments!
TASTING NOTE: Chateau Maucamps Cru Bourgeois status of 2008 was justifiably awarded as indicated by this well preserved vintage. A sustainably produced Haut-Medoc from the Macau en Médoc area close [to] the appellation of Margaux and near the banks of the Garonne. Pouring a notably garnet hue, rich and enticing with notes of iron and salinity. Evolves slowly but surely in the glass so no need to decant. The tannins are quite velvety at this point and the fruits is still well concentrated. Complex and harmonious with memorable length.
