CAPITEL NICALÒ VALPOLICELLA SUPERIORE 2018 DOC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TEDESCHI
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. The 2017 was the recipient of our Vintage Assessments Best Italian Red Wine Value of the Year Award. This tasty 2018 has a very deep intense ruby red colour. Very gently smoky, slightly spicy, complex, intense, ripe plum-cherry fruit with some gently cedary notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, intense, bright, gently complex, harmonious, ripe, plum-cherry purée flavours with a crisp, lingering, sandalwood-tinged, slightly grippy finish. This well structured blend of 30% Corvine, 30% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella and 10% of four other varieties has 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number 2017 L2 on the back label. This is the 35th release in Vintages since 2001 and in the last 14 years the price has only risen from $16.95 to $17.95. A REPEAT of the 2018 that was released on May 2, 2020 at $17.95.
