PETITE SIRAH 1998 'Selected Vineyards', California
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Concannon
Medium deep purple colour. Very spicy, sweetish, ruby grapefruit nose. Spicy, accessible, medium bodied, sweetish, fresh raspberry purée and grapefruity flavours with a lingering, gently cedary finish. At its peak, I wish that this rather commercial rendition was a tad cheaper. CSPC 942342

A Crowd Pleaser If Slightly Chilled
LCBO Text Status A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection!
Concannon's 'Selected Vineyards' range is comprised of four single varietal wines, including this Petite Sirah (aka Durif). The goal of this line is to produce wines of great depth of flavour and complexity. Often this requires them to acquire grapes from several vineyards in different regions. Our panel's tasting note: Deep ruby colour with aromas of jammy cassis, earth, truffles, clove, leather, kirsch and macerated raspberries. Dry to slightly off dry with a balancing astringent note that brings the whole package into line. Full-bodied long finish. Drink now or keep 2+ years. (Oct. 2000) Price $ 19.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
Tasting Date vintages release - June 9, 2001
