THE FORMULA ROBERT'S SHIRAZ 2019 South Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SMALL GULLY
This new 2019 longtime Vintages Essential has a deep intense purple-red colour. Attractive, slightly spicy, bright, ripe plum, raspberry, black-cherry-cassis nose with lots of toasty-cedary notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, nicely structured, ripe, fruit-driven, raspberry-cassis-cherry flavours with a lingering, cedary, well balanced, bright finish. Delicious and crowd-pleasing, this South Australia Shiraz is a $15.65 bargain until February 2. When poured into the huge Riedel Ouverture Double Magnum glass it out-performed Shiraz costing twice the price. This 2019 is the best in over a dozen releases tasted to date. Aged for 18 months in French and American oak barrels, it has 15.9% alcohol and 6.8 g/L total acidity with a screwcap closure. Although ready-to-drink, it will age well and laying away half a case is a great idea at this low price.
