Petite Sirah is a natural cross between Syrah and the little known Peloursin and is very much like its more famous parent, Syrah (a.k.a. Shiraz). Foppiano is considered the quality leader of Petite Sirah. Tasting note: Intensely tannic but also beautifully crafted, with a firm, tightly wound core of plum, loganberry, wild berry, floral and black cherry that picks up touches of jam and spice. Comes full circle with a dry, tannic aftertaste. Best from 2003 through 2009. Score - 89. (James Laube, www.winespectator.com, Sept. 30, 2002) |
