PETITE SIRAH 2017 Guadalupe Valley, Baja California |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
L.A. CETTO |
Not tasted - LCBO preview cancelled. Any item not tasted is assigned an interim ZERO-STAR (-) rating and an interim 0-POINT proxy score until properly assessed. The 2016 (*/*+) was released on November 9, 2019 at $12.95. Here is my previous note: Extremely deep intense purple colour. Spicy, juicy, sweetish black cherry puree nose with some cedary, tinny, tropical fruit cocktail notes. Somewhat sweet, medium bodied, spicy, baked plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, faintly cedary, high acid, raisiny finish. Ready-to-drink. T |

TASTING NOTE: Widely produced in California and usually blended with Zinfandel to add structure, Petite Sirah does very well as a stand-alone variety in Mexico. L.A. Cetto, in particular, has been extremely successful with the variety. Expect to discover dark fruit, black pepper, leather and smoke. Pair this with spicy black-bean dishes or steak-andcheese enchiladas. |
