ROSADO 2018 DOCa Rioja |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
HACIENDA LOPEZ DE HARO |
Very bright day-glo light salmon pink colour. Attractive, slightly spicy, ripe plum-apple purée nose. Dry,medium-light bodied, slightly spicy, tangy, bright, ripe plum-apple flavours with a crisp, unoaked, mineral-tinged, finish. Ready-to-drink. This winery website says that this is a blend of 60% Viura and 40% Garnacha (not Tempranillo and Garnacha as appears in the Vintages Catalogue). It has 12.5% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with lot number L.22018 on the upper part of the glass bottle. In my opinion this is by far the best value of the 5 rosés presented for tasting! Much better than the 2017 that appeared in Vintages (*+/**) on September 1, 2018 at $12.95. |

The Tempranillo and Garnacha in this rosé were hand-picked from terraced vineyard sites situated at the foot of the Toloño Mountains in an area known as the Sonsierra. The region is marked by hills and valleys that offer pockets of unique aspect and exposure, allowing winemakers a range of nuanced expressions to work with in their final blends. This rosé will be floral, with herb, spice, mineral and citrus notes. A superb value that will be an easy addition to any barbecue. |
