CHÂTEAU DE NAGES JT WHITE 2015 AC Costières de Nîmes |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
MICHEL GASSIER |
One of 64 items (56% of 116 releases) not presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies. This REPEAT last appeared in Vintages (**+) on June 23, 2018 at $26.95 and was Recommended Best Buy. Here is my previous note: Forward medium yellow colour. Intense, spicy, floral, honeyed, ripe lemon-pear nose. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, very slightly spicy, complex, gently nutty, lemon-melon meringue flavours with a lingering, very gently cedary, complex finish. Ready-to-drink. This new blend of 52% Roussanne and 48% Viognier (vs. 80:20 for the 2013) has 14.5% alcohol and now 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number 16/20 on the lower part of the glass bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: The top white of the estate is the 2015 Costières de Nîmes Blanc JT, and this big, rich, decadent beauty will stand side by side a Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc that costs three times its price. Completely barrel- fermented and a blend of Roussanne, Viognier and Grenache Blanc, it gives up classy notes of sautéed peaches, white flowers, pineapple and a hint of citrus in its medium to full-bodied, rich, voluptuous personality that stays clean and fresh. Drink it over the coming 2-4 years. Drink Date: 2016-2020. Score - 93 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016) |
