RESERVA 2016 DOC Douro |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
GLORIA |
One of 72 items (60% of 136 releases) not presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies. This REPEAT last appeared in Vintages (**/**+) on November 10, 2018 at $16.95 and was Recommended. Here is my previous note: Deep purple colour. Fairly intense, complex, sandalwood-tinged, warm, plum-cherry purée nose with some cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, harmonious, bright, warm plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, fairly crisp, sandalwood-tinged finish. This new blend is 50% Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) and 50% Touriga Nacional has 14% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number 21/07/18 on the lower part of the glass bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: The spice from aging in American oak barrels is evident in this perfumed wine. It also has ripe berry fruits and acidity as a promise for the future. The wine could do with some aging, so wait to drink until 2019. Score - 89 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, April 1, 2018) |
