Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TYRRELL'S |
Very deep intense purple colour. Intense, very spicy, juicy, ripe cherry-plum puree nose with some cedary notes. Fairly dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, very spicy, juicy, intense, ripe plum-black-cherry flavours with a lingering, crisp, cedary, fairly high acid finish with some hints of mocha-chocolate. This tasty crowd-pleaser is perfect for BBQ ribs. Predominately aged in French oak barriques (20% new) in Tyrrell’s temperature controlled barrel shed at 16°C for 18 months, during which they were racked three times. It has 14.9% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with a life saving hefty 6.7 g/L total acidity. The lot number L18334 appears on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. |

TASTING NOTE: Complex and aromatic, with spice, fresh earth, cream soda and black walnut flavors that are rich and polished, giving way to succulent plum and cassis elements. Black pepper and Earl Grey tea grace notes linger effortlessly on the finish. Drink now through 2029. Score - 92 (MaryAnn Worobiec, winespectator.com, Nov. 30, 2018) |
