Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CHÂTEAU DU CHATELARD |
Very light day glo pink colour. Very slightly honeyed, ripe apple-melon-plum nose with some mineral notes. Dry, light bodied, slightly spicy, ripe plum-apple flavours with a crisp, unoaked finish. This Gamay has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. Better than the 2008 (*/*+) released on June 20, 2009 at $14.95. |

This one is not to be missed; Beaujolais rosé is an uncommon sight EVERYWHERE, including in Beaujolais. Though production of this bright, refreshing style has increased in recent years, it's still exceptionally rare. Less rosé wine is made in Beaujolais than white wine (and they make very little white wine), but their rosés are more than mere curiosities. Expect lifted red fruit, a touch of pepper spice and a tangy, refreshing acidity from this wine, which is crafted from Gamay. An ideal sipper to accompany a casual backyard lunch. |
