Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, spicy, lime-tinged, baked plum-cherry nose with some cedary, smoky, mocha-chocolate notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, bright, mocha-chocolae flavours with a lingering, high acid, cedar-sandalwood finish. This new Swartland blend of 69% Syrah,14% Grenache Noir, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cinsault has 14% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number 35617 on the lower part of the glass bottle. TASTING NOTE: This is the second vintage of The Chocolate Block from Swartland fruit, combining mostly Syrah with Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsaut and Viognier aged in older wood. For such a huge blend (590,000 bottles), it's especially impressive in drought-affected 2016 with crowd-pleasing blackberry, bramble and tapenade flavours framed by oak. 2018-24.
