LA POJA 2011 IGT Veronese |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ALLEGRINI |
Not presented at the press and/or consultants preview in the LCBO lab. This is only available online in the May Classics Collection and is not available in any store. Ironically, this untasted wine scores the IDENTICAL 93-point rating in the Vintages Catalogue as the other $24.95 bottle of Allegrini Plazzo Della Torre. As of today (May 23) there are only 99 bottles available and, unfortunately, the wine writers and consultants will never know how it tastes. All I know is that Robert Parker’s guide gave it a modest 89-points. Unfortunately, the massive size of these May releases (157 on May 12 and 139 on May 26) combined with a significant proportion of over-hyped, non-destination wines seems to tarnish what Vintages is supposed to be all about. |

TASTING NOTE: Opulent as well as elegant, this structured red boasts aromas of black currant, exotic spice, new oak and fragrant blue flower. Made entirely with native grape Corvina, the velvety palate doles out spiced blackberry, juicy cherry, licorice and black pepper. Firm, polished tannins provide the smooth framework. Score - 93.
