BRIGANTI RED 2014 VQA Ontario |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
VIENI |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Spicy baked apple nose with some peppery, Baco Noir notes. Very dry, medium bodied, tangy, spicy, somewhat bitter, baked plum-apple flavours with a lingering, high acid, faintly acetic finish Has 12.5% alcohol and 9 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. It’s a pass for me. |

TASTING NOTE: The Briganti, a Celtic tribe from the North of England, were such a thorn in the side of the Roman army that the name \"brigand\" has survived to this day as a way of speaking of someone who simply won't follow the dang rules! The 2014 Vieni Briganti is juicy and lithe with black cherry, cocoa, earth and smoke, and will be ideal with a meaty pasta. You'll be hard-pressed to follow the rules of hospitality with this one - you'll likely not want to share. (Vintages panel, Sept. 2017) |
