BETHLEHEM BLOCK CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2015 Gomersal, Barossa, South Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SISTER'S RUN
Very deep intense purple colour. Gently spicy, cedary, ripe raspberry-plum-cherry nose. Dry, medium bodied, tangy, quite well structured, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, very bright, gently cedary finish. Has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number LSRCSBV15 on the back label and L8019 on the lower part of the glass bottle. The latter suggests that this was bottled on January 19, 2018 meaning that we do not know if this is the same batch that scored a Silver Medal in 2017. I was very surprised to discover that the SISTER'S RUN WEBSITE clearly states that “only 1,084 dozen produced” and yet the LCBO was able to buy 1,343 cases with the identical lot number. Not quite up to the 1,498 cases of the recommended 2014 (**/**+) that was released on June 10, 2017 at $18.95. CSPC 360636

The Sister's Run Bethlehem Block Cabernet Sauvignon is always an elegant and complex wine. This is always crafted in a rich style that puts emphasis on the depth and concentration of the fruit while never allowing the freshness to fade too much into the background. In the past this wine has been juicy and soft with impressive cassis and red and black fruit atop notes of cedar and spice. Look for similar complexity here. A great wine for herbed steaks.
