THE FOREIGN AFFAIR |
Light yellow colour. Complex, intense, slightly leesy, stewed apple-lemon nose with lots of Bourbony cedar notes. Off dry, medium-full bodied, very spicy, intense, stewed apple-lemon puree flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, somewhat resiny-Bourbony, sweetish, marzipan-tinged finish. Ready-to-drink. Has 14.4% alcohol and 7 g/L residual sugar. Tasted twice - this distinctive style is definitely not for me. The grapes were harvested at the beginning of October with 20% of the fruit set aside to be dried using the traditional appassimento method. The wine was barrel fermented in French oak with continued aging on light lees for 15 months before final blending and bottling. The 2012 (**) was released on April 1, 2017 at $26.95. |

The cold winter impacted the size of the crop for the 2015 vintage, but the quality of the fruit was superb. This was barrel fermented and aged for 15 months on the lees before the final blending and bottling. You can expect peach, grilled pineapple and vanilla tones in a creamy but bright and crisp wine. Enjoy with grilled chicken or grilled calamari. |
