GRAN RESERVA CARMENÈRE 2015 Maipo Valley |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
VIÑA TARAPACÁ |
Not presented at the press and/or consultants preview in the LCBO lab. A REPEAT of the 2015 (*+/**) released on December 9, 2017 at $17.95. Here is my previous note: Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, spicy, stewed plum-apple nose with some herbal, clove-wintergreen-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, solid, slightly tart, herbal, plum-apple-cherry flavours with a somewhat cedary, fairly dense, high acid, faintly bitter finish. Has 13.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L7229 on the back label. Note that I do not know what the lot number is the same on the most recent shipment and/or if the quality is identical. |

James Suckling awarded this wine a score of 92 in May 2017. TASTING NOTE: Lip-smacking flavors of plum tart, cherry and kirsch feature some floral accents. Offers lively acidity, with a finish that lingers with notes of black olive and fresh-roasted coffee bean. Drink now through 2020. Score - 90 (Kim Marcus, winespectator.com, July 31, 2017) |
