MANZANILLA DO Manzanilla - Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
LA GUITA |
Very pale straw colour. Intense, faintly spicy, very slightly honeyed, leesy, nutty, ripe lemon nose. Very dry, medium to medium-light bodied, slightly spicy, tangy, intense, dried ripe lemon flavours with a very crisp, somewhat leesy, nutty finish. Fino sherry in style, La Guita Manzanilla is made from only the first pressing of Palomino grapes. This 15% aperitif wine is aged in the solera system and is characterized by the nutty tang attributed to 'flor' yeast exposure. Refrigerate once opened and serve chilled. Screwcap closure. Has only 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L180176 on the back label. This REPEAT last appeared in Vintages (**+) on October 1, 2016 at $15.95 and was Recommended Best Buy. |

Luis Gutiérrez awarded this a rating of 90+ points and suggested a drinking window of 2017 through 2020. (robertparker.com, Dec. 29, 2017) TASTING NOTE: Distinctive, with verbena and tarragon notes leading the way, followed by lemon pith and jicama flavors. Flashes of gooseberry and talc run through the finish. Bottled June 2016. Drink now. Score - 91 (James Molesworth, winespectator.com, June 15, 2017) |
