WILDASS SAUVIGNON BLANC 2016 VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
STRATUS |
Bright pale straw colour. Intense, spicy, honeysuckle nose with some slightly resiny, grassy, yellow grapefruit notes. Dry, medium-light bodied, tangy, spicy, ripe yellow grapefruit-plum flavours with a lingering, crisp, unoaked finish. Tasted twice. The bottle that had been open for several hours had taken on Seville orange marmalade “sweaty” notes. Quite ready-to-drink. Has 12.9% alcohol and 9 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure and lot number 3336 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Not up to the recommended 2015 (**/**+) that was released on November 12, 2016 at $18.95. |

Stratus was the world's first fully LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) winery, earning the honour in 2005. The fruit for their Wildass Sauvignon Blanc was hand-picked, and the wine is crisp and mouthwatering with rich gooseberry, guava, lime and herbaceous notes. Pair with salmon, dill and chèvre. |
