SAN GIORGIO 2006 IGT Umbria Rosso
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LUNGAROTTI
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Complex, intense, somewhat cedary, sandalwood-tinged, baked plum nose. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, quite dense, mature, bricky, slightly spicy, intense, baked plum flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, earthy, sandalwood-driven finish. I liked this mature 2006 Umbian blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo with 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L4718AD on the lower part of the glass bottle. TASTING NOTE: Lots of dark fruits and spices on the nose follow through to a full body, velvety, ripe tannins and a long, flavorful, rich, decadent finish. Delicious, opulent red. Drink now. Score - 94 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, July 10, 2016) Price $ 38.95
