Fairly deep red colour. Spicy, somewhat earthy, stewed plum nose with some sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, intense, somewhat mature, baked plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, cedary, earth-tinged finish. This 100% Sangiovese was aged for 12 months in Slovenian and French oak of various sizes and fills. It has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L/68 on the back label. Not quite up to the recommended 2009 (**+) with 89-points released on March 4, 2017 at $24.95. |
