SAUVIGNON TOURAINE 2016 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
DOMAINE JACKY MARTEAU |
Bright extremely pale straw colour. Intense, bright, gently complex, ripe apple-white peach nose with some youthful, leesy notes. Nice on the palate - very dry, medium-light bodied, spicy, tangy, ripe white peach flavours with a slightly tart, unoaked, mineral-tinged finish. Best with oysters and ready-to-drink. Has 13% alcohol 4 g/L residual sugar. This bright, somewhat idiosyncratic-styled, flavourful 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley with its sweaty notes may not be for everyone, but it’s a hit for me and should be great by the glass in restaurants with seafood. |

Sauvignon Blanc from the Touraine appellation is crisp and aromatic, with notes of leafy green herbs, crunchy veggies, citrus and exotic fruits. This one in particular, from the brother-and-sister team who run this family winery, tends to shine with lemony goodness. Pour it with roasted artichoke salad. |
