SAUVIGNON TOURAINE 2016 AC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DOMAINE JACKY MARTEAU
Bright extremely pale straw colour. Intense, bright, gently complex, ripe apple-white peach nose with some youthful, leesy notes. Nice on the palate - very dry, medium-light bodied, spicy, tangy, ripe white peach flavours with a slightly tart, unoaked, mineral-tinged finish. Best with oysters and ready-to-drink. Has 13% alcohol 4 g/L residual sugar. This bright, somewhat idiosyncratic-styled, flavourful 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley with its sweaty notes may not be for everyone, but it’s a hit for me and should be great by the glass in restaurants with seafood. A Best Buy
Sauvignon Blanc from the Touraine appellation is crisp and aromatic, with notes of leafy green herbs, crunchy veggies, citrus and exotic fruits. This one in particular, from the brother-and-sister team who run this family winery, tends to shine with lemony goodness. Pour it with roasted artichoke salad. Price $ 14.95
