TASTING NOTE: This wine is sourced from 25-year-old vines planted in loam, clay and carbonate soils, and the grapes are macerated for 10-12 days. It delivers Barbera's concentrated tangy red fruit character and then some. Leather, earth, dried fruit, herbal and spice tones combine to make for a layered, complex wine. There's also plenty of food-friendly acidity. This is round and smooth, with a fine tension and elegance. Really blossoms with air. A great choice for a hearty winter stew, or pasta with a meaty sauce. (Vintages panel, Oct. 2017) |
