Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, spicy, ripe plum-black cherry nose with some mineral-tinged, sandalwood-cedar notes with a hints of mocha-chocolate. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, dense, intense, spicy, ripe plum-black cherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, fairly high acid finish. Has 15.4% alcohol and 8 g/L residual sugar. The Wagners took the name Caymus from the Mexican land grant known as Rancho Caymus, given to George Yount in 1836, which encompassed what eventually became the town of Rutherford and much of the surrounding area. Zinfandel is known as California's heritage grape and was a favourite of Charlie Wagner Sr. Expect big berry fruit, spice and underbrush character on a robust frame. Price $ 59.95
