LYRICAL RED 2014 Columbia Valley |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

SONGBIRD |
Very deep intense purple colour. Fairly intense, gently cedary, spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree nose. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, quite well structured, harmonious, slightly spicy, fairly intense, ripe plum-cherry-cassis puree flavours with a lingering, very gently cedary, fairly high acid finish. Tasty, attractive and quite ready-to-drink. This blend of Syrah and Merlot has 13.8% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar is available exclusively at Whole Foods Market stores in the Pacific Northwest at a mere $9 US a bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: Washington continues to impress and delight with wines such as this that offer amazing quality and value. Rich and meaty with ripe red fruit and suggestions of chocolate, cassis and spicy oak. Well-made and balanced, with firm tannins. This gives superb insight into the continuing evolution and excitement to be found in the red wines of Washington. (Vintages panel, Feb. 2017) |
