DOMAINE DE NUGUES |
Fairly deep purple colour. Slightly spicy, very faintly peppery, ripe plum-apple nose. Very dry, medium to medium-light bodied, slightly spicy, tangy, plum-apple-cherry flavours with a lingering, faintly leafy, mineral-tinged finish. This 100% Gamay from the Macon region of France has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. Try with Beef Bourguignon

TASTING NOTE: Dark red. Smoke-accented aromas of dried cherry and red currant, and an earthy rhubarb nuance in the background. Juicy and focused, offering gently sweet red fruit and candied lavender flavors that put on weight and spread out slowly on the back half. A spicy note appears on the smooth, gently tannic finish, which lingers with very good persistence. I've drunk well-stored bottles of this wine that had hit their tenth birthday gracefully.
