TASTING NOTE: Riesling is one of the most exciting, successful varietals in Ontario, and site-specific examples such as this are turning heads around the world. Charles Baker has been working with fruit from the Picone Vineyard on Vinemount Ridge since 2005. The oldest vines were 37 years of age in 2014. The wine is crisp and beautifully made, with lime, apple, honeycomb and mineral oil tones. The mineral note is pitch-perfect. (Vintages panel, Jan. 2017) |
