Not presented at the press and/or consultants preview in the LCBO lab. Here is my tasting note for the 750 ml bottle released on April 29, 2017 (***) with 93-points at $60.95 (cspc 238261): Extremely deep intense purple colour. Very attractive, intense, spicy, baked black cherry-cassis puree nose with some elegant, vanilla-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, smooth, bright, ripe cassis-cherry-plum puree flavours with a lingering, cedar-tinged, fairly harmonious finish. TONY ASPLER / 91-points / TRY - Dense purple colour; spicy, black fruit nose with vanilla oak; full-bodied and forward with a lovely mouth-feel and a firm finish. Very approachable now. Has 14.8% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number 071416/104 on the lower part of the glass bottle. A repeat of the 2012 (***) released on February 20, 2016 at $59.95. |

TASTING NOTE: This is very intense with blackberries, dark chocolate, fresh mushrooms and blackcurrants. Full-bodied, fine and fruity yet complex and intense. Structured and lightly austere. Beautiful. Drink in 2020. Score - 94 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Jan. 26, 2017) |
