FARAON OLOROSO SHERRY DO |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
HIDALGO |
Light amber colour. Very spicy, honeyed, floral, dry Seville orange marmalade nose with some caramel notes. Very dry, medium to medium-full bodied, dense, intense, mouthfilling, Seville orange and lemon meringue flavours with a lingering, gently caramel-tinged, somewhat leesy, faintly dusty, somewhat nutty, very high acid finish. A bit of an acquired taste - I liked it! It may be a good idea to keep it chilled after it has been opened some as to maintain the freshness. Has 18% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L72902 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: Intense, with roasted almond, Brazil nut and walnut notes lending this a slightly burly aspect, while gunpowder tea, bitter orange and almond accents add a taut feel through the finish. This is a distinctive, edgy version that Sherry geeks will dig. Drink now. Score - 92 (James Molesworth, winespectator.com, Feb. 29, 2016) |
