AGLIANICO DEL VULTURE 2012 DOC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer D'ANGELO
Very deep intense purple colour. Slightly reedy, surprisingly youthful, spicy, dried apple nose with some peppery-capsicum notes. Dry, medium bodied, dusty, dried apple-plum and peppery capsicum flavours with a lingering, faintly herbal, savoury, somewhat bitter finish. This REPEAT is a recent batch with a new lot number L6217 on the back label. It means that the early tasting notes quoted in the Vintages Catalogue could be relevant. Unfortunately, they do not apply to this batch which is devoid of any charm. CSPC 971689

TASTING NOTE: The 2012 Aglianico del Vulture offers a fundamentally pleasing and enriching experience with a beautiful bouquet that is stitched tight with threads of spice, dark fruit, dark mineral and cola. There is no doubting the volcanic nature of this dark, masculine and brooding wine. The 2012 vintage seems especially voluptuous and shapely. In the mouth, the wine shows a superior sense of precision and sharpness that is shaped by the tannins and the natural acidity of Aglianico. D'Angelo has taken huge strides forward in quality.
