1882 CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013 Rutherford, Napa Valley
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer INGLENOOK
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, bright, ripe plum-cherry puree nose with some cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, cedary, high acid finish. Has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. This crowd-pleaser is not for me. The preferred 2012 (***) with 90-points was released on May 30, 2015 at $77.95. TONY ASPLER / 90-points - Cedary, blackcurrant nose; medium to full-bodied, firmly structured, showing ripe plum and dark chocolate flavours but still tight, hemmed in by tannins. Hold 4 - 5 years. TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon 1882 shows just how compelling this vintage is, even at the entry-level. Black cherries, plums, menthol, lavender and licorice flow across the palate in a dark, sumptuous wine endowed with real depth and nuance. Fleshy and supple, but with plenty of supporting acidity and vintage 2013 energy, the 1882 is a terrific introduction to the vintage. This is a very serious wine. Drinking window: 2016-2025.
