PINOT GRIS 2015 Marlborough, South Island
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TE PA
Forward light yellow colour. Attractive, spicy, honeyed, floral, lychee-driven nose. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, very spicy, honeyed, bright, ripe melon-apple-lemon puree flavours with intense lychee notes on the lingering finish. Quite ready-to-drink. It reminds me of an Alsatian late harvest (vendage tardive) style. Tasty and would be great with poached lobster in a cream sauce. Has 14% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. TASTING NOTE: 100% Pinot Gris. Quite a bit of colour for 2015. Very big fleshy style with a bouquet of poached pears, apples and honey, with a nice light touch on the palate with some acidity lifting the fruit. Decent length. Plenty of wine. Score - 90 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2016) Price $ 17.95
