Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, ripe, gently earthy, somewhat smoky, very ripe black cherry-plum nose. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, intense, ripe black cherry puree flavours with a lingering, gently smoky, cedary, high acid finish. Showing nicely and ready-to-drink. Has 14.9% alcohol (on front label and winery website) and 5 g/L residual sugar. Note that there is a new white label on the back of the bottle informing us that this wine actually has 16.0% alcohol. |

TASTING NOTE: Tar and beef char kick off the nose on this dark and heavy wine, which offers asphalt, smoked meats and crushed elderberry. Caramelized beef, balsamic-blackberry reduction, tobacco and touches of smoke show on the palate. Score - 90 (Matt Kettman, Wine Enthusiast, Aug. 1, 2016) |
