GRAN LURTON CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013 Uco Valley, Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BODEGA PIEDRA NEGRA
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Complex, intense, slightly spicy, baked ripe plum-cherry puree nose with some sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, dense, harmonious, tangy, ripe plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, bright, cedar-sandalwood, high acid finish. Has 15% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L17 031-16-253 on the back label. TONY ASPLER / 89-points / BUY - Cedary, vanilla nose not expressing fruit at the moment; full-bodied, dry, savoury, firmly structured, dark chocolate flavour; somewhat over-extracted but lots of flavour here. A Best Buy
Originally 100% Cabernet when first produced in 1992, this is now blended with Malbec as the Lurton brothers strive to coax an even more authentic Argentine character from this wine. TASTING NOTE: This is a dense and textured cab with chewy and rich tannins. Full body, hazelnut and clove character with the black currants. Very long and gorgeous. Needs three or four years to come together. Score - 95 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, May 20, 2016) Price $ 24.95
